Tangram was set up to serve as an example and safe haven for young, inexperienced adults. We help young local, talented people to become professionals and give them a fair chance and fair benefits to start their working life in a very demanding sector. We guide them, train them and support them to become true professionals and hopefully become their own boss eventually.
Meaning of Tangram
We often get asked: What is Tangram and what does it mean? Actually, Tangram is not linked to the Cambodian culture, it hails from China and means “Seven boards of Skill”. Tangram is a dissection puzzle that was invented long time ago, using seven flat tiles, called “tans”. There is no record in time when the puzzle was invented and why. There have been speculations that the puzzle was rather entertainment for women and children and that therefore a serious study of the puzzle was never undertaken.
The 7 "tans" of the puzzle have set measurements. The objective of this game is to form a given shape. As a rule, all tiles need to be connected to each other and need to be used. All of them need to lay down flat and they may not overlap. It is considered a mathematical puzzle and can be a real brainteaser at times. In many classrooms around the world you can still find the puzzle, which is used to creatively develop the mathematical and geometry skills of young children.
