Our BBQ specialist is Kalyan, a young and quiet personality who has taken care of her family's lunches and dinners for quite a while. She is always running around buying fresh produce to cook for her family and friends and now for Tangram Garden. Under the guidance of our chef she has developed her skills as a BBQ chef and has become an indispensable force behind the grill. The Tangram Signature plate is one of the best selling dishes, which is a mixed grill that is grilled to perfection by Kalyan.

Soksan is in charge of the lounge and bar and is our cashier. She is just finishing up her studies as a acountant at the University of Southeast Asia and has been in hospitality for two years now. Having worked for other higher end establishments, Soksan is well acquainted with quality. She works hard and starts in the afternoon already working out the accounting and prepares the restaurant for a night full of delight! On top of that, she is one of the very few female cocktail mixers in town. And according to the feedback we get, she is also one of the very best!

She takes care of the grill like she has been doing this for years. Nary has experience working in the hotel industry. In the kitchen she also is a wizard and makes excellent starters and deserts. Her friendly and gentle personality makes her a very likeable person within the team. When it comes to a busy night, the orders are managed by Nary and she guides the chef and his cooks through the busy periods. Needless to say, Nary is a vital part of the team and is everything Tangram is looking for in a person!

Micha arrived in Cambodia in October 2011 to help set up the menu and kitchen and to train the staff. A project that was immediately his calling and that shows how important it is to pay attention to detail. Micha's 10 years of cooking skills and kitchen management were a blessing for Tangram and its staff. The young and energetic staff learned a great deal from Micha and until today are proof of how imprtant good training and continuous training is. The staff do great, also without his skills and supervision around. They show eye for details and the care on which he focused the past year. Even though he may be back in Holland now, Tangram would not be Tangram without him and the staff respects that a lot, showing off every night their detail for care and creativity in the kitchen.

Mr. Ravy, also named Thol completes Tangram's kitchen. Ravy has a few years experience working at larger local establishments around town but never had an opportunity to work in a western style environment like Tangram. Having his base in the kitchen, Ravy makes excellent starters. Ravy studies English as well during the day and that means that every member of our team understands and speaks English. He also prepares the food for the drivers and guides who bring people to Tangram. His excellence in doing so has given Tangram a reputation among local guides and drivers for being a place where fresh food is served and where also the local people are cared for with respect.

Meet Deth, he is our security guard. A security guard in Cambodia never really gets much attention but Deth is as much part of the Tangram Team as anyone else. Always busy doing something in the restaurant, from cutting grass to refilling the oil lamps, He will probably be the first person you see when you arrive, and also the last to see when he waves you goodbye. Deth speaks English at a beginner's level and is the first person you meet at Tangram. He is also the last one who waves you goodbye when you leave Tangram.

Sam Eng is part of our service team. She will welcome you with a broad smile to the restaurant. Prior to joining Tangram Garden, she trained at several 5* restaurants in town and participated in a training program of one of our neighboring NGO's. The NGO supports young adults with a poor background and helps them develop their hospitality skills. As part of Tangram's desire to do as much as possible back to the community, Tangram immediately asked Sam Eng to come over for a try out. After she told us she would be very happy to work at Tangram, we offered her the position and ever since she has been developing an excellent and pleasant colleague.

Mr.Dang, started as the kitchen help in early January 2012 but developed himself quickly as a salad specialist and later on as the sous chef of Tangram. Dang is one of those young people who deserve a chance and who will not disappoint you. After two years with Tangram, Dang was promoted to chef. That is a long way to go from a man who could only fry morning glory two years ago. He was trained by the same NGO as Sam Eng and Kea and we are very glad we have him as our chef. Consultant chef Micha trusted and believed in him and Dang did not disappoint his teacher and neither will he disappoint his guests!

Sokhoeurn is our help in the kitchen and helps to prepare the salads and other appetizers from the menu. She also can be found behind the BBQ, grilling the pork chops and steak to perfection. She is one of the youngest members we have in our team and is very eager to learn more. Working at Tangram is her first paid job and we hope to train her well so in the future she can be assigned to any position in the restaurant. SHe is also Kea's younger sister and obviously learns much from her big sister.

Sokkea, or Kea as we call her, is a former student of the Eggbok Mission, an NGO training young adults in the art of hospitality. Kea joined Tangram in 2012 after a life-saving medical trip to Germany. Ever since she has embraced life and at any time you will find her around the restaurant singing or humming songs. Kea is a very cheerful person and takes care of the Tangram dog at her home. A tiny puppy we rescued in February 2013 and who is as cheerful and life-embracing as Kea is. She has many stories to tell and enjoys chatting with Tangram's guests.

Vien started at Tangram as a security guard. He spoke English at a reasonable beginners level and quickly showed a lot of interest in the restaurant and made it clear he wanted to be more than the security guard. After intensive training and more English lessons, Vien started in September 2013 as a permanent member of our service staff. He loves to chat with people and often chats with his guests about life in Cambodia, who love to hear his stories. Although he is one of the youngest members, he has plenty to tell. You will find him very kind and attentive and definitely a very eager person who wants to learn more. |
Sithorn joined the Tangram team early 2012. A quiet and shy personality when she first arrived. Nowadays, Sithorn is an excellent communicator and has developed her hospitality skills to a very high level already. There is always a smile on her face, and her gentle personality makes any guest feels comfortable. She is also our dessert specialist and creates the fresh fruit cocktails and mango and sticky rice delight. Sithorn is is one of those people that always goes the extra mile. Or in Tangram's case, the extra paths. She is still young and developing her language skills, but you will find out soon that she has quite some confidence build up to talk about more than just your orders!

Mr. Ya, our tuktuk driver. This man is remarkable. Nothing is ever too much for him. He is ready to pick you up at any given time in any weather condition, and is ready to do the exact same when bringing you back. Mr. Ya speaks good English and is very reliable. He brings people around Angkor, to the airport or anywhere you would like him to take you. He works hard in our restaurant and calls in his friends and family if he sees we need more hands. All together, Mr. Ya completes the last details of our personal services, and remains an indisposable force for Tangram.
